The Girls Annual Summer Visit 2017

The Girls Annual Summer Visit 2017 Every summer the three youngest girls visit their older sisters in their home states for a few weeks. Alexa in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Jordyn in Wichita, Kansas. This year we even added a special stay with their older brother, Nyk in Wichita too! Their activities included lots of swimming, fun activities with the family, ice cream treats and special time with nieces and nephews. What an amazing summer visit!! During this time, Sean and I get a break from our parenting roles and get to spend some much needed time alone. It's quite an adjustment, having the...

Emma’s Take On Fidget Spinners

Emma's Recommendations On The Fidget Spinner Emma claims if your bored in class and you're tired of playing with your pencil, play with your fidget spinner. But also claims your teacher could get mad. If you're near family, be careful not to spin your fidget around little babies or their eyes would pop out! Ewww! Emma, where did you hear this? Emma also took Hannah's fidget spinner to school once without her knowing. She's sneaky! Emma also claims if you don't have your device with you, spinning your fidget is a great distraction and can also help you focus. Emma also recommends not...

“Skate” from the Book of Things

Have you ever heard the saying, "Practice makes perfect?" Well, if you have, it fits this story perfectly. I've been skateboarding for two or three years now and I've become much more talented at it. What's funny is that whenever I went out to skateboard, my little sisters would follow. I hated it! So I would run inside and leave the girls out there and they would come in screaming. Now I'm starting to break my skateboard more and more. In this picture it's broken. I always thought it was cool to break, sprain, twist, bruise and scratch a bone because you would get a cast. Boy, did it...

Blue Clifton by Alexa

The blue house by College Hill Park was the first house the Genosky kids lived in all together, where everyone had their own rooms and lots of space. Sean and mom got married while we were living in that house. Hannah was born and brought home to that house. Many parties and tons of holiday dinners were celebrated in that house.

Our First Date

Our First Date It was the fall of 1995 and Sean and I were on our first date.  I had never even set foot in a Catholic Church until then.  It was a Saturday evening and I thought Sean and I were going out to dinner.  I was so excited to be with Sean this day, and then he pulled in the parking lot across the street on Douglas, and I said, ‘What are we doing?’ he said, ‘We were going to Mass’.  I am thinking Mass…What’s Mass? And I am in jeans, are you crazy?  Not to mention, I was hungry.  Little did I know I was hungry for a different kind of food; spiritual food. Blessed Sacrament...

The Little White Church

The Little White Church This is a recent picture of a little church on the northwest corner of 33rd and Park Place in the north end of Wichita, Kansas.  It was right around the corner from my childhood home on Wellington Place and still stands today.  It doesn’t look quite the same, but the steps are and it was a safe haven for me when I was a child.  To this day, I never knew the name of the church or its denomination nor did I even care.  I just knew that I felt at peace there.  And I knew that God was there too. As a child, I endured the physical and emotional pain of sexual abuse from...

Let’s Go See Santa at Prairie Pines

Prairie Pines Christmas Tree Farm has long been a holiday tradition of the Genosky family. Sean and I took the older kids to the Christmas Tree Farm and cut down our christmas family tree together when we lived in Wichita, Kansas. It was always quite the experience; bundling the kids up making sure they were warm and heading out on our adventure. Rarely it snowed making the journey a little more pleasant, but there were a few occasions where got the full experience with snow and all. The kids enjoyed riding the tractor and helping us find the perfect tree. After we picked out the...
